I tried a lot of trading systems and spent hours and hours studying different strategies that were not able to fit any structure. This book is not an easy read. I would rather say it's hard. But once you get the idea behind and switch to a real chart - you will easily spot the patterns described. Excellent result after spending more than 2.5 weeks studying the materials.Author is also super responsive and happy to help with questions you will have during your study.
I bought this book soon after it was published. I gave it a quick read and put it on my bookshelf with about 100 other trading books. It seemed too complicated for me. I scalp the Eur/Usd and simple is the name of the game in scalping. Then Vladimir's next book came out. Rinse and repeat. Then the third. Rinse and repeat. Now the latest one on 5-minute charts -- that's something a scalper can work with. Don't get me wrong; I saw value in the first book but it didn't fit my scalping style. The truth is that any method of trading will take a substantial investment of time both studying and learning its implementation. Therefore, one has to be selective in their time investment. I spent the last week re-reading all of his books. Today, I was able to implement his framework in a successful scalping trade. That success helps me commit more time to learn the entire strategy. I recommend all of his books, they are reasonably priced, Vladimir quickly answers my questions via email and shares his trading results. Where can you get that for $15.00!
This is the first book in the series of his trading books that explains his ST Trading method. The method is explained well, there are plenty of pictures and graphs to illustrate the concepts. This is NOT light reading, so you will need to take some time to unpack the ideas, and test the method. I did- and it works very well. I would encourage traders to get this book first, before they buy the other two. This book lays the foundation for the other two books.
I've read nearly 200 trading books in 15 years. I can tell when someone is a real trader, and I can say this author is real. But that's actually not so important. What really matters is three things. 1) Does the book divulge unique and useful information? Yes. 2) Are clear trading rules given, including position sizing, when to stay out, and honesty about losing trades? Yes. 3) Is the writing clear and concise? On this point, I can say the writing is concise, but this is not the most poetic book you will ever read in English. However, all the information is there, and there are no misleading aspects. I found that I had to study his charts very carefully. He annotates them extensively, and the pictures speak 1000 words. The book is short because that's all it takes to cover the whole system. Once you get the hang of it, it's not that complex, which is a sign of all good trading systems. Also, the author asks for questions and feedback, so I wrote to him twice and he immediately responded with kind answers to help me. In summary, I highly recommend this book for forex traders.
I have purchased and read all 4 books on the ST Patterns strategy. I have found after some time of study, reflection, and backtesting that this system divides the market into a structure that is much simpler to understand. The entry and exit signals it generates are not subjective in any way, which I believe is a huge handicap for many other trade strategies. I have had moments of skepticism only to discover errors in my application of the principles in this book. An email to the author was met with the most thorough and immediate reply I could have imagined, that likely took more than an hour and a half of his time to review and compose (he broke down an entire month of backtest trading as if writing another book at my request)! If you are serious about learning to trade a strategy that is completely versatile and unambiguous, this system is completely worth your time to study. Like any trade strategy, the amount of time invested in learning, practicing, and backtesting will drive the amount of potential success. As such, attempting to utilize this (or any) system without such discipline would be a fool’s errand. So... plan to take your time (email the author with any questions along the way) and be diligent with this book to gain the maximum benefit to your trading skills (and your trade account!). I highly recommend this book ( followed in short order by the other 3).
