So due to an unfortunate set of circumstances I will not be abel to see this film in theaters for for a few weeks at least, so getting to read this novelization was wonderful. It was a very well done read and told a great, action packed story with much more Godzilla then the 2014 film. A worthy sequel and a great read for any Godzilla fan. I finished it in about five hours after downloading it.
If you thought Hollywood might be able to make a good monster movie without feeling it with bunch of sjw propaganda you were wrong. This story is filled with the same enviromentalist garbage spouted by radical leftists. Not chapter is without some garbage about horrible humanity is or how climate change is supposedly going to destroy all life. Don't waste your time with it or the movie.
This item arrived quickly Via Amazon prime. As an adaption of the film, the book is satisfactory. The monster action is written well enough, and you get the basic idea of the movie. As a novel, it's rather poor. I immediately noticed sentences and portions of the story that were (quite frankly) poorly worded. I'm no grammar nut, but there were many periods where there should not have been, and ideas that were poorly expressed. The length of the novel leaves something to be desired as well. For being 302 pages long, it feels like a very short read. This is possibly due to an excessive amount of character centered dialogue and interaction, as compared to the monsters themselves. I would say it is definitely equal to or lesser in quality than the novelization of Godzilla 2014, and far inferior to the skull Island novelization we received a few years ago.One thing I do feel necessary to mention, is the stale and overly political nature of the narrative. The eco-terrorism plot device has been used to death by now, and only serves to lower the quality of this story, in my opinion. It's no longer just a story about monsters fighting that also involves nuclear aspects. It feels the need to cover old ground that has already been covered endlessly by most modern narratives.Overall, it was a very poor and unsatisfying addition to the monster verse novelizations. One marred by poor dialogue, poor grammar, and a copy and paste subplot. I doubt I'll be reading it again, and I'll just enjoy the monsters fighting on the television.
This book just made me want to see the movie even more. Well written and enjoyable. Lots of action and suspense. Well done.
If you are a fan of Godzilla and more specifically 'Godzilla: King of the Monsters' along with the 'Monsterverse' then you will probably enjoy reading this novelization. If you've seen the movie, then you will obviously know most of the story. Anybody who has seen the movie will know that the editing wasn't the best. It could be quite confusing as to who was where at any given moment. I know that I wasn't always sure if the characters were in the helicopter, submarine, Argo or a base somewhere. This book will help you to understand a bit better some of the more confusing moments. Obviously any dialogue you may have missed will be right here for you to read.Additionally there are some scenes in the book that weren't in the movie. I'm not sure if this was because these scenes were deleted or if they were even filmed. It's probable that the author had a copy of the script. Maybe he saw an early version of the movie. Perhaps these scenes will show up in an extended edition of the movie. I hope so because some of them involved other monsters. Let me be clear here. This is not a different version of the same story. It's the same story just with a few scenes added in.One more thing... if you didn't get the names of the other monsters, this book will give you their names and a better description of each monster.
